Abstract
Monoclonal antibody (MAb) 2H1 binds to an epitope in the capsule of Cr yptococcus neoformans that can elicit protective antibodies. The bindi ng of MAb 2H1 to C. neoformans strains was studied by agglutination, i mmunofluorescence, and phagocytosis assays. The MAb 2H1 epitope was pr esent in all 21 isolates studied, including those recovered from patie nts with recurrent infections.
