P. Gajdek et al., EFFECT OF THE ELECTRIC-FIELD ON THE ELECTRON-TRANSFER PROCESSES IN SYMMETRICAL DIMERIC SYSTEMS, Journal of photochemistry and photobiology. A, Chemistry, 84(2), 1994, pp. 113-122
The kinetics of photo-induced charge separation resulting from reversi
ble outer-sphere electron transfer processes in symmetrical one-dimens
ional dimeric systems, such as bianthryl, perturbed by an external ele
ctric field, in liquid solutions are investigated. The theoretical app
roach is based on Zusman-type kinetic equations, and applies to adiaba
tic and non-adiabatic electron transfer processes. Model calculations
demonstrating the response of the steady state decay of the three-surf
ace system to the external electric field perturbation as a function o
f the dielectric relaxation rate of the solvent, reorganization energy
and the free energy are presented.
