T. Schindelbeck et W. Freyland, ESR STUDY OF SPIN DYNAMICS IN KXKCL1-X MELTS S-THAN-OR-EQUAL-TO-X-LESS-THAN-OR-EQUAL-TO-10(-1)) APPROACHING THE M-NM TRANSITION, Journal of non-crystalline solids, 207, 1996, pp. 48-51
ESR-spectra of a metal-molten salt solution (KxKCl1-x) have been measu
red for the first time over a wide composition range (10(-4) less than
or equal to x less than or equal to 10(-1)) at 800 degrees C. Emphasi
s has been given to a precise control of composition by in situ coulom
etric titration. The spin susceptibility exhibits strong deviations fr
om a simple Curie limit over the whole x-range studied. A narrow line
width of 0.2 mT is observed in non-metallic salt rich solutions. It in
creases significantly approaching the non-metal-metal transition. The
characteristics of the spin dynamics strongly support the current pict
ure of electron localization in these melts.
