The electrical conductivity, sigma, and the thermoelectric power, S, o
f liquid Si-Te alloys have been measured as a function of temperature
and concentration near the eutectic composition. Both properties prese
nt a 'semiconducting' behavior. Plots of log sigma versus 1/T give str
aight lines above the melting point. The transition from a semi-conduc
ting to metallic behavior is observed on Te rich alloys at high temper
atures. The results are analyzed and discussed.
