Liquid Li-Sn alloys were investigated by electromotive force (emf) met
hod at Li concentrations 0.025 less than or equal to X(Li) less than o
r equal to 0.952 and at temperatures 775 less than or equal to T less
than or equal to 975 K. Coulometric titrations of Li into solid Li-Sn
alloys at 0.47 less than or equal to X(Li) less than or equal to 0.83
and at 655 less than or equal to T less than or equal to 861 K enabled
verification of seven previously determined solid intermediate phases
and revealed a new phase Li8Sn3. Phase diagrams were calculated by me
ans of the Lukas program assuming seven or eight intermediate phases;
however, the results are accurate only up to X(Li) = 0.7778.
