Abstract
Usefulness of frequency tunable sources for plasma, heating and fusion diagnostics is studied. Applicability of fast frequency-step-tunable gyrotrons for these purposes is examined. A gyrotron based on a coaxia l cavity with impedance rod is considered as an example.
