Ll. Losev et Ap. Lutsenko, SYSTEMS FOR GENERATION OF BROAD-BAND RADI ATION BY ROTATIONAL STIMULATED RAMAN-SCATTERING IN ATMOSPHERIC NITROGEN, Kvantovaa elektronika, 21(10), 1994, pp. 965-967
It is proposed to generate broadband radiation by stimulated Raman sca
ttering from rotational levels of atmospheric nitrogen under the condi
tions of a strong parametric coupling when the pump radiation is provi
ded by a high-power two-frequency neodymium laser. Various systems for
constructing such a two-frequency laser are proposed. It is shown tha
t up to 20 Raman components can be generated if the intensities of the
lines, separated by the 76 cm-1 frequency of the S0(8) transition in
nitrogen, is 2 GW cm-2 and the length of the air path is 20 m.
