Abstract
The E. coli AP1-200-9 strain used for rapid identification of genes en coding restriction and modification enzymes carries a temperature sesn sitive lacZ gene fused to the damage-inducible dinD locus. A derivativ e of this strain was constructed that has a wild-type form of this loc us which allows for a more efficient identification of recombinant pla smids encoding restriction and modifications enzymes.
