Abstract
Lecidella, a widespread genus of crustose lichens, includes 19 saxicol ous species in America. These are recorded, and details of chemistry, ecology and biogeography are presented. The American distribution of m ost species and their chemotypes is mapped. A key for the determinatio n of the species is provided. Lecidella herteliana is described as new .
