Abstract
Dioscorea deltoidea Wall. cell suspension was grown in closed continuo us culture. Cell growth and synthesis of steroid glycosides as affecte d by dilution rate, concentration of nutrients, and influence of impel ler rotation were recorded. By varying the regimes, the following phys iological states of the cell population were obtained: linear growth r ate, growth arrest without viability loss, and lysis of most cells in the population.
