Abstract
Toxicities are a common presenting complaint in the emergency departme nt. This article discusses the clinical approach to the poisoned patie nt from the initial telephone call by the owner to presentation, manag ement, and monitoring of the patient in the emergency department. Topi cs discussed include telephone triage, diagnosis, management, and moni toring of the poisoned patient.
