Dk. Macintire, EMERGENCIES OF THE FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE-TRACT, The Veterinary clinics of North America. Small animal practice, 24(6), 1994, pp. 1173-1188
Emergencies of the female reproductive tract are common in small anima
l practice. The veterinarian must be familiar with normal and abnormal
reproductive behaviors, as well as medical and surgical options. Emer
gencies of the reproductive tract can be life-threatening for both dam
and off-spring and require rapid diagnosis and assessment, as well as
aggressive treatment. With effective management, most of these condit
ions warrant a good prognosis.
