E. Rondeleux et al., CONCOMITANT OCCURRENCE OF PSORIATIC-ARTHR ITIS AND RECURRENT MULTIFOCAL OSTEOMYELITIS - REPORT OF A CASE, Annales de pediatrie, 41(9), 1994, pp. 569-572
A 13-year-old developed psoriatic arthritis and recurrent multifocal o
steomyelitis. The latter is an inflammatory disease involving multiple
skeletal sites, whose diagnosis rests on suggestive physical findings
, laboratory evidence of inflammation, and characteristic histological
changes with negative biopsy specimen cultures. There is almost gener
al agreement that anti-inflammatory agents are useful in recurrent mul
tifocal osteomyelitis, whereas the need for antimicrobials is under de
bate. Spontaneous remissions have been reported. The simultaneous occu
rrence of psoriatic arthritis in the case reported herein suggests tha
t the two diseases may share one or more pathogenic factors.
