Abstract
Two new series of erbium - doped fluoroborate glasses have been prepar ed. By the use of absorption parametrization, the measured photolumine scence spectra of these glasses have been analyzed. For all the identi fied emission transitions, the stimulated emission cross-sections (sig ma(p)E) have been computed to understand the effects of changes in the host glass system. These slightly pink - coloured Er-glasses have sho wn bright VIOLET colour under a UV-lamp. The colour intensity was foun d to vary with the glass chemical composition.
