A new calcium copper orthophosphate Ca10Cu(PO4)7 has been prepared and
characterized. The compound is stable in the temperature range of 300
-1200 K in inert atmosphere or 300-680 K in air. The compound Ca10Cu(P
O4)7 is crystallized in the rhombohedral system with whitlockite-type
structure. The space group is R3c, the lattice constants are: a=10.442
(1), c=37.39(1)angstrom, V=3531(1)angstrom3. There are two different c
opper sites in the structure.
