Abstract
A simple and novel technique for fabricating polarisation maintaining optical fibre couplers is reported. This technique is different from e xisting approaches of polarisation coupler fabrication, in that it avo ids the need to align the polarisation axis during each coupler fabric ation. Both low loss and low polarisation crosstalk have been achieved .
