The diethylphosphate derivative of hydroxyphenyl)spiro[1,2-dioxetane-3
,2'-adamantane] was synthesized. The K-m and V-max values for the enzy
matic hydrolysis by phosphotriesterase were 0.091 mM and 0.15 sec(-1),
respectively. The enzyme-catalyzed hydrolysis was accompanied by the
emission of visible light.
