EVAPORATIVE COOLER USING A POROUS MATERIAL TO BE USED FOR RESERVATIONOF FOOD

Special type of evaporative cooler was designed and tested. The cooler consisted of galvanised zinc sheet in a rectangular shape. Charcoal g ranules ware used as an outer wetted layer which produce cooling effec t by evaporation. Several tests were done upon the cooler in order to study its performance under different conditions. Using this cooler th e ambient temperature was reduced by 10-13 degrees C. Such evaporative cooler will be an effective mean in maintaining some of the vegetable s and the contained food in a temperature considerably below the ambie nt temperature.
