Abstract
A small solid adsorption solar refrigerator has been built and prelimi nary testing is underway. The collector is 1.4 m(2) in area and contai ns 17 kg of active carbon. It uses transparent insulation to reduce co llector heat losses. The cold box is remote from the collector, being linked to it by a flexible steel hose. It is possible to produce up to 4 kg of ice per day in a diurnal cycle.
