Abstract
A mathematical model of liquid dropping flow in a two-dimensional pack ed bed was developed, in which distribution of liquid generating point s, wall and impermeable region have been considered. The model was com bined with the gas flow model in order to analyze the phenomena in the dropping zone in a blast furnace. The influence of gas and liquid flo w rate on the liquid flow was examined through cold model experiments and the simulation results were validated by the experimental results. On the basis of the simulation, liquid flow distribution in the blast furnace becomes uniform through dropping to the furnace bottom. Flood ing tends to occur just below the cohesive layer.
