Abstract
Reduction of MCl2(eta2-dppf) with NaBH4 gives M(eta2-dppf)2 (M = Pt, 1 , Pd, 2). Oxidation of 1 or 2 with S8 gives the tetrasulfido complex M (eta2-S4)(eta2-S4)(eta2-dppf). Addition of 1 or 2 to Fe3(mu3-S)2(CO)9 results in the heterometallic complex (CO)6Fe2(mu3-S)2M(eta2-dppf) (M = Pt, 5; Pd, 6) and two substitution side products Fe3(mu3-S)2(CO)7(mu -dppf) (7) and [Fe3(mu3-S)2(CO)8](mu-dppf) (8).
