J. Knezevic, DETERMINATION OF OPERATIONS PRODUCTION DOWNTIME FOR GROUP REPLACEMENTMAINTENANCE POLICY, International journal of operations & production management, 14(7), 1994, pp. 18-26
Prediction of the duration of the downtime caused by maintenance, espe
cially in the cases where the system considered consists of several re
pairable items, presents a challenge for maintenance managers, because
of possible revenue losses during these intervals of time. Responds t
o this challenge through the new methodology for the fast, accurate pr
ediction of maintainability measures related to the group replacement
maintenance policy. It is applicable to group maintenance tasks in whi
ch individual replacement tasks are performed: simultaneously, sequent
ially, and combined. The method presented could be successfully used a
t the planning stage of the operations/production process when the inf
ormation available is based on previous experience only, as well as at
the stage when the process is performed. The applicability and useful
ness of the methodology proposed is demonstrated through an illustrati
ve numerical example.
