This study continues documentation of the species radiation of the gen
us Tetragnatha in the Hawaiian archipelago. The T. acuta clade compris
es four known species which are characterized by pointed abdomens, wit
h strong patterns of black on white or brown/gray accentuating the dor
sal peak. They tend to specialize on habitats (such as exposed ridges,
lava rock and dry forest) which appear to be unfavorable to their con
geners. Three new species are described in this clade; and the morphol
ogy, ecology and distribution of representatives are compared.
