Hrh. Kabir et Jb. Kennedy, ANALYSIS OF MODERATELY-THICK AND DEEP SHELLS SUBJECTED TO THERMAL ANDMECHANICAL LOADINGS, Computers & structures, 53(6), 1994, pp. 1419-1426
An analytical solution to a boundary value problem of moderately-thick
and deep doubly curved shells of rectangular planform subjected to th
ermal and mechanical loadings is presented. Sanders' kinematic relatio
ns that incorporate transverse shear deformations in moderately deep s
hell theory are considered in the shell formulations, yielding five co
upled second order partial differential equations in five unknown disp
lacements. These are then solved in conjunction with admissible bounda
ry conditions. The numerical results presented herein should serve as
bench-mark solutions for future comparisons.
