The author of this article is the former editor in chief of this journ
al. In this article he gives a brief overview of the history of the Ec
onomic Society in Finland and especially of the history of this journa
l. He deals with subjects that have been important in both the debate
and in the articles throughout the one hundred years of this Society.
He focuses especially on the discussion about regulation vs. a free ma
rket economy. Other important subjects in the history of the Society h
ave been fiscal and monetary policy issues. The author also discusses
similarities and divergences in articles and in the debate during diff
erent periods of time.
