Abstract
In this article the interaction of kink-type solutions [as defined bel ow in Eqs. (1.5), (1.6)] of the harmonic map equations is studied. It is shown that if two kinks enter an interaction, two kinks emerge from it as a result. The shape of the emerging kinks is related to the sha pe of the original ones via a certain Goursat problem.
