Observations from the HI-SCALE instrument on Ulysses of the ions and e
lectrons associated with an interplanetary shock-pair at about 3.15 AU
are presented. An empirical model is used to derive the evolution of
the particle distribution in the solar wind frame. The forward shock i
s shown to be the primary source of ion acceleration, while the weaker
and younger reverse shock is found to trap particles in its vicinity.
There is also evidence of electron acceleration at the forward shock.
We find evidence of multiple shock encounters for both ions and elect
rons.
