Abstract
This paper presents a review of the main results in the physics involv ed in the interaction of high-power laser radiation with transparent i nsulators. Processes are considered that determine the stability of th e parameters of silicate glasses and the functional reliability of opt ical elements made from them under the long-term action of intense las er radiation.
