The multidimensional mood questionnaire (MDBF) is a psychometric instr
ument for the assessment of the three mood dimensions ''pleasant-unple
asant'' (scale G; 16 items), ''awake-sleepy'' (scale W; 8 items) and '
'calm-restless'' (scale R; 8 items). Results about reliability and val
idity are reported based on a sample of 503 subjects on four occasions
of measurement (3 weeks apart). The reliabilities (split-half correla
tion with Spearman-Brown formula for double length) for the four occas
ions of measurement are between .96 and .97 for scale G, between .94 a
nd .96 for scale W, and between .87 and .94 for scale R. As a first st
ep toward validation, correlations between the three scales of the MDB
F and several personality variables (FPI-R) as well as some situationa
l variables (FBL-K, daily hassles and uplifts scales) are also reporte
d.
