Eighteen loci, comprising 15 polymorphic loci from 12 enzyme systems i
n eastern white pine (Pinus strobus L.), were analyzed by cellulose ac
etate electrophoresis using megagametophyte haploid tissue. Thirty tre
es were sampled in each of 10 natural populations in Quebec. The obser
ved segregation ratios for pooled data showed that 14 of the 15 polymo
rphic loci conformed to Mendelian expectations. Allozymes of the secon
d locus of phosphoglucose isomerase did not segregate in the expected
1:1 ratio. Linkage was investigated for 63 two-locus combinations. Chi
-square statistics did not reject the hypothesis of independent segreg
ation for any pair of loci.
