Abstract
Stirring of (CO)(6)Fe-2(mu-SSe) and phenylacetylene in methanol at roo m temperature for 16 h yielded the double butterfly complex [{(Co)(6)F e2SSe}(2){mu-C(H)-C(Ph)}]. Compound [{(CO)(6)Fe2SSe}(2){mu-C(H)-C(Ph)} ] was characterized by IR and H-1 and C-13 C NMR spectroscopy. Its str ucture was established by single crystal X-ray crystallography. It cry stallized in the triclinic space group P (1) over bar with a = 8.956(1 0), b = 9.083, c = 17.491(2)Angstrom, alpha = 104.77(10)degrees, beta = 93.32(10)degrees, gamma = 94.77(10)degrees, V = 1336.4(3)Angstrom(3) Z = 2, D-calc = 2.175 g cm(-3). Full-matrix least-squares refinement of [{(CO)(6)Fe2SSe}(2){mu-C(H)-C(Ph)}] converged to R = 0.0504 and R(w ) = 0.0549. The structure consists of two Fe2SSe butterfly units linke d to each other through a bridging PhC-CH group.
