Pelvic floor disorders form a complex group of functional or anatomic
problems with the pelvic floor. Problems discussed in this article are
outlet obstruction constipation, levator syndrome/proctalgia fugax, c
occygodynia, rectocele/pelvic floor herniation/descending perineum syn
drome, rectal prolapse, and solitary rectal ulcer syndrome. These cons
titute a diverse array of functional disorders that are rarely life th
reatening but can be severely debilitating. Presentation, evaluation,
and management of these disorders are discussed.
