Abstract
In studies of the effects of production factors on seed yield of red f escue and on the quality of seed yield the following conclusions were reached. 1. The nutrient supply of plant stand has a decisive role in prevailing of genetically determined productivity. The studied nutrien ts and the effects of their combinations were the following in due cou rse: NPK, NP, N, NK, PK and K.2. Based on the results it can be stated that the nitrogen fertilizer has got a decisive role not only in the studied yield components but also in the quantity and quality of the s eed yield. 3. The depressive effect of the high dose N fertilizer (270 kg/ha) on the quantity and quality of seed yield was proven. 4. Besid es given conditions of the site the phosphorus and potassium fertilize rs had a reliable, positive effect on the seed yield of the studied gr ass species, although this effect was not so high as that of the nitro gen fertilizer.5. Taking the average of the three years and all the ot her factors the efficiency of the nitrogen fertilizer applied in two d oses (1/3 - early spring, 2/3 - end of winter) was reliably higher (P = 5 % significance) than the efficiency of nitrogen fertilizers applie d in one or three doses. 6. The quantity of nitrogen fertilizer applie d at the end of winter or early spring has a decisive role on the effi ciency of quantity of seed yield and the total fertilization system. 7 . The application of a higher grass stand density is an efficient way of increase of seed yield. 8. The seed yield of red fescue is increase d significantly by the adequate water supply (rainfall + irrigation). 9. The results of the production analysis refer to the fact that in se lection of red fescue it is useful to improve among others the number of fertile shoots and the panicle productivity in the interest of incr ease of seed yield.
