Cm. Bertha et al., REAGENTS FOR BIOORGANIC SYNTHESIS .6. THE DESIGN AND SYNTHESIS OF 2 NOVEL POLYFUNCTIONAL ORGANIC-REAGENTS FOR BIOMACROMOLECULAR MODIFICATION, Journal of biomolecular structure & dynamics, 12(2), 1994, pp. 413-437
The design, synthesis, structure, and properties of two tetrafunctiona
l organic reagents, namely, xymethylamino)-(E,E)-N-(2-chloroethyl)prop
enamide] (SBCCP) (1) and rboxymethylamino)-(E,E)-N-(2-oxoethyl)propena
mide] (SBCOP) (2) are reported. Reagents 1 and 2 contain reactive bis(
alkyl halide) and bis(aldehyde) functions, respectively, as well as bi
s(carboxylic acid) moieties. The reagents have potential applications
for biomacromolecular cross-linking, in particular for the cross-linki
ng of hemoglobin subunits. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction data of sy
nthetic intermediates (4,5, and 12) provided information about structu
ral features and tether lengths of the target reagents.
