Abstract
MCrAlY coatings were deposited on fixed and rotating substrates by cat hodic vacuum are evaporation using three different cathode composition s. The compositions of the front and back surfaces of the fixed blades differ much more from that of the cathode material than do those of t he rotating blades. Typical multiphase structures are formed during ho mogenization of the coatings. The bond strength of the coatings is com parable with that of a coating prepared by low pressure plasma sprayin g. A multilayer coating (Nb/Cu/MCrAlY) was deposited in one coating cy cle.
