The fabrication and surface morphology of methylene blue (MB)/perfluor
osulfonated ionomer (Nafion) modified microcylinder carbon fiber elect
rode were studied. The stability of the modified electrode is good. Th
e extraction coefficient K of MB between Nafion film and solution is s
imilar to 110, and the diffusion coefficient of MB in Nafion film is s
imilar to 5.3 x 10(-9) cm(2)/s. The MB/Nafion modified microcylinder e
lectrode shows significant electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation
of hemoglobin in weak acid media; it can be used for the determinatio
n of hemoglobin in the range of 5.0-50 mu M with a relative standard d
eviation of 3.5% at 6.0 mu M HB. A satisfactory result has been obtain
ed for the determination of hemoglobin in clinical blood samples.
