Abstract
A closed-form expression is presented to find the location of solid-li quid interface motion in convection-dominated solidification and melti ng problems. In this regard, the solutions are expressed in terms of t he generalized representations of error functions, E(u, upsilon) and F (u, upsilon), which are useful to heat-conduction problems with convec tive-type boundary conditions. It is demonstrated that for constant su rface temperature, the interface solution reduces to the classical Neu mann solution.
