Abstract
The paper deals with the optimal strength design of the belt chamber c ompound vessel of mixed construction, consisting of the matrix made of sintered carbide, supporting steel ring, and outer wound supporting c ylinder. The maximum stress of all components being equal to the desig n stresses, the effective stress distribution in wound cylinder is uni form. Outer radius of the wound part is taken as an objective function . The set of transcendental equations has been derived to calculate al l necessary geometrical parameters and their discussion was carried ou t.
