Abstract
Electromyography of esophageal musculature can be used to localize the area of paralysis in cattle with functional megaesophagus. Placement of appropriate nutrients and bicarbonate into the rumen via a fistula can be used to maintain body weight in a cow with a nonfunctioning eso phagus.
