Jd. Lyons et Hc. Filston, LEAD-INTOXICATION FROM A PELLET ENTRAPPED IN THE APPENDIX OF A CHILD - TREATMENT CONSIDERATIONS, Journal of pediatric surgery, 29(12), 1994, pp. 1618-1620
A 4-year old boy with symptoms of lead intoxication and confirmatory s
erum lead levels was eventually found to have a pellet lodged in his a
ppendix. Because laxatives and cathartics did not dislodge the pellet,
appendectomy was performed. Arguments for and against this decision a
re explored.
