Abstract
Genomic clones from Nicotiana tabacum homologous to the transcriptiona l activator gene, vp1, from Zea mays were isolated from a genomic libr ary. The sequences of three different clones were most homologous in a region that was revealed, by computer analysis based on chain flexibi lity, to be highly immunogenic. This region was shown by others to be part of a putative transcriptional activating domain. One of the genom ic sequences was shown, by Northern analysis, to be specifically expre ssed in developing tobacco seeds.
