Abstract
A novel high-voltage pulse generator, which can provide a rapid high-v oltage, low-energy pulse followed by a high-energy capacitive discharg e, is described. The generator simulates a high-voltage, high-energy p ulsed power source without resorting to high-voltage, high-energy capa citors. The pulse-forming network is capable of generating a high-volt age pulse of up to 350 kV, and the capacitor bank can provide a high-c urrent pulse of several tens of kilo-amperes.
