Abstract
Coupled wave theory combined with the material equations for spatial s ubharmonics is developed to describe the frequency detuning curves of subharmonic intensity as well as the subharmonic instability boundarie s. The predicted detuning curves obtained varying the DC electric fiel ds are in good agreement with the experimental results.
