Xc. Hu et al., SENSITIVE DETERMINATION OF HUMIC-ACID IN NATURAL-WATER BY CHEMILUMINESCENCE FLOW-INJECTION METHOD, Bunseki Kagaku, 43(12), 1994, pp. 1077-1082
The chemiluminescence produced by the reaction between humic acid and
hypobromite in alkaline solution has been applied to the determination
of humic acid in natural water. The maximum wavelength of this chemil
uminescence is 560 similar to 600 nm. The limit of detection for humic
acid was 0.01 ppm. The interference from ammonium ion has been elimin
ated by using an on-line cation exchange column. The interference from
urea can be neglected because the concentration of urea in natural wa
teris very low. Ferrous cation enhances the chemiluminescence of humic
acid and hypobromite, but, does not enhance that of urea or ammonium
ion.
