Abstract
The equation of monolayer physical adsorption on a homogeneous surface based on the two-dimensional analog of the Beattie-Bridgeman equation of a real gas state has been formulated. On the basis of the isotherm obtained, the relation describing the dependence of isosteric adsorpt ion heat on surface coverage has been evaluated. The number of paramet ers in the two-dimensional state equation was reduced to three. This w as possible due to the application of the hard-disc fluid concept. The relations obtained describe experimental adsorption isotherms and the energetics of adsorption processes at low coverages; the correlation between experimental and theoretical data is satisfactory. Application of Student's test indicates that the parameters of the model which ar e independent theoretically are also independent in practice.
