A. Calusaru et al., KINETIC ISOTOPIC EFFECTS IN THE REACTION OF URANIUM DISPROPORTIONATION (V) IN H2O AND D2O, Revista de chimie, 45(11), 1994, pp. 984-987
The research works were aimed at determining the kinetic isotropic eff
ects in the U(V) disproportionation reaction in H2O and D2O, in order
to clarify this reaction mechanism. By polarographic determinations in
usual and heavy water the rate constants for various temperatures and
energy values were calculated. The resulting reverse kinetic isotopic
effect shows that the U(V) disproportionation process is about 2.5 ti
mes more rapid in D2O than in H2O, showing also the existence of a rap
id protonation, deuteration respectively, preequilibrium, in parallel
with the load-transfer reaction.
