Abstract
In this study we systematically assessed the sensitivity limits of fib er-FISH in model experiments. Exonic fragments and cDNAs with exon siz es of greater than or equal to 200 bp could be mapped on their cognate cosmid. This positional fiber-FISH mapping was validated by long-rang e PCR It is expected that these two independent mapping approaches wil l help to refine current available gene maps and show their applicabil ity in fine mapping of sequence-tagged sites or expressed sequence tag s. Also, they will be useful in resolving gene structures by mapping e xon and intron locations. (C) 1996 Academic Press, Inc.
