Abstract
The activity of P-glucuronidase (GUS; EC 3.2.1.31) was measured in lea ves and roots of transgenic tobacco plants carrying the reporter gene encoding GUS. This gene was controlled by a 826-bp (from translation s tart) fragment of the 5'-flanking region of gene 6b from TL-DNA of pTi Bo542. The GUS activity in roots of the 6b-GUS plants was 20-80 times higher than in leaves. The activity of 5'-flanking region of gene 6b w as stimulated by wounding and by phytohormones.
