GASTROPYELOPLASTY - AN ALTERNATIVE PROCEDURE IN RECONSTRUCTION OF THERENAL PELVIS

We report our first experience with the use of a small gastric patch f or reconstruction of the renal pelvis. We performed left gastropyelopl asty based on the right gastroepiploic artery in 1 patient suffering f rom recurrent urinary tract infections and renal stones, and moderate renal failure. The use of a gastric patch for reconstruction of the re nal pelvis prevented the recurrence of calculi and bacterial infection s, and produced an improvement in renal function. We confirm the feasi bility of the use of a small gastric patch in reconstruction of the re nal pelvis and we argue that there are several possible ways to use st omach in upper urinary tract reconstruction.
