Abstract
The study is an analysis of the tools of rhetorical seduction. Through a case study of one demagogue, David Duke, it attempts to illuminate not only the ways in which arguments are constructed but the way in wh ich the argumentative climate can be manipulated for maximum message e ffect. The analysis therefore broadens the scope of traditional argume ntative studies. It considers not only the power of the arguments but also the ways in which rhetors can bring maximum force to bear in esta blishing the rheotorical ground on which future debates will be waged.
